The popular weekly Mount Vernon Riverwalk Summer Concert Series event in downtown Mount Vernon, Washington, are returning in 2019 for yet another spectacular line up of bands.
Organized by the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mount Vernon, a series of exciting evening Riverwalk music concerts will be taking place on the Mount Vernon Riverwalk Plaza free of charge. The first of these concert series was held back in 2015 and after the success of some of the previous years’ events the series of concerts is now well established in the Mount Vernon community summer calendar and is still growing.
The picturesque riverside spot in Historic Downtown Mount Vernon is the perfect chilled out location to bring out the picnic baskets & deck chairs and while away the summer evenings over a picnic with friends or family. You can watch the sun go down over the Skagit River while you toe tap, bop and sing along to a great selection of talented local and regional bands and artists in a family friendly space.
The concerts will be held on each Thursday evening starting on July 11th, 2019 through the end of August 2019, from 6pm to 8pm. You can see details of the full line up below.

Thursday July 11th: Zydeco Explosion
A band guaranteed to get you dancing. Specializing in the Zydeco genre that evolved in southwest Louisiana, the band blend blues, rhythm and blues, and music straight from the soul of the Louisiana Creoles and the Native people of Louisiana. Expect fast-paced rhythms led by Ken Pickard, master of the accordion, joined by Ranger Kidwell-Ross on the rubboard, and backed by some of the region’s most experienced musicians on guitar, sax, bass and drums.
Thursday July 18th: Johnny Bulldog
Ex lead singer and drummer of ‘People’ famous for their top ten hit, ‘I Love You’ and front man of ‘Creedence Clearwater Revisited’, Johnny ‘Bulldog’ Tristoa now leads this band of four from Whidbey Island. Kevin Johnson will be on lead guitar and vocals, Jimi “The Slayer” Schlegel on drums and vocals, and Marc Strader on bass and vocals.
Thursday July 25th: Pacific Twang
Featuring mesmerizing harmonies, sweet old-time ballads and boot-stomping tunes, you’ll be entertained and dancing away the night. Look forward to some surprise swampy versions of the most classic rock songs thrown in, too! For Pacific Twang, think Dixie Chicks, Little Big Town, Neko Case, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Emmy Lou Harris, Kacey Musgraves and more.
Thursday August 1st: Brian Lee and The Orbiters
A top blues and swing band, Brian Lee and The Orbiters promise an energetic and fun performance to get you all dancing. The Orbiters have received Washington Blues Society’s “Best of the Blues” awards for Best Traditional Blues Band for 5 years and are nominated again for this year, too. They have distinctive sounds with a track list of absolute blues gems.
Thursday August 8th: Cascadia Groove
Latin, jazz, funk, and R&B are included in this eclectic energetic band’s playlists. You’ll hear original material by guitarist Gary Tobin along with unique interpretations of classics from The Average White Band, Jeff Lorber, Lettuce, and Joe Zawinul to name a few. They always prove to be a real crowd pleaser.
Thursday August 15th: Fantasy Band
A regional 6-piece rock band covering classic dance and rock songs performed in a well-crafted set that should please all ages. The band boast impressive harmonies and a busy, exciting band of instruments.
Thursday August 22nd: Miller Campbell Band
Front woman Ms. Miller Campbell is intent on making it in western music. Her voice is impressive with a natural flare.
Thursday August 29th: Chris Eger Band and the Powerhouse Horns
Chris Eger is celebrated for being ‘exceptional’ and ‘excellent’ across not just one but several genres of music. His skills on guitar and on vocals offer true American music vibes from Rock and Blues to Country, Funk and Soul.

There is plenty of parking available at the Mount Vernon Riverwalk Plaza. To get there:
From I-5 take the WA-536 W / KINCAID ST. exit- EXIT 226.
Next, turn west onto E. KINCAID ST/WA-536 and stay on Kincaid Street for 0.3 miles until Main Street.
Turn right onto Main Street and you will see the Riverwalk on the left next to the Skagit River.
